BilimUpSkill is responsible for developing the Coursera ecosystem in Kazakhstan, managing its licensing, integration, and analytics. The project supports the integration of global online courses into university curriculum, helps employers build upskill/reskill programs, and assists government organizations in scaling training in digital and professional skills. The courses are delivered by leading universities and global technology companies.

BilimUpSkill — the official Coursera representative in Kazakhstan that connects schools, colleges, universities, companies, and government organizations to the global platform. The project is initiated by the directive of Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to ensure equal access for all students in the country to the world’s best online content — Coursera.

BilimUpSkill in Numbers

Kazakhstan is a regional leader in Central Asia in online learning and skills development on Coursera. In September 2025, during the international Coursera Conference, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek was awarded the “Learning Hero” distinction. The award is granted for boldness, strategic thinking and leadership in education transformation through global online platforms.
