Kazakhstan launches one of the world’s largest AI-driven education initiative
Kazakhstan has launched a nationwide initiative to bring AI-powered tools into education, developed in collaboration with OpenAI. The program will provide 165,000 educators with access to ChatGPT Edu, a version of ChatGPT tailored for education purposes. Sponsored by Freedom Holding Corp., the project is being implemented by Bilim Group, an IT holding company, as the technology integration partner.
According to the press service of Bilim Group, under an agreement with OpenAI, Freedom Holding Corp. has acquired 165,000 annual ChatGPT Edu licenses for educators across Kazakhstan. This makes the initiative one of the largest AI-driven education projects in the world, supported at the governmental level.

ChatGPT Edu licenses will be made available to educators across all levels of the education system, including preschool, secondary, technical and vocational education, and higher education, as well as research institutes and Astana Hub. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. All project participants will receive free access to the licenses, which will be activated on the Kazakhstani educational platform BilimClass — ai.bilimclass.kz.

ChatGPT Edu is a version of ChatGPT designed for educational institutions, enabling the use of advanced AI while ensuring data security, privacy, and efficient administration.
Educators can use ChatGPT Edu to create lesson plans, design exercises and tests, and adapt materials to different student levels and needs. By the end of the project, the educators are expected to save their time on lesson preparation, grading, reporting and other routine tasks.
